Headlice Treatment: Important And Effective

The moment you realize without any shadow of a doubt that you have headlice, you need to immediately perform a headlice treatment. Don’t wait. And don’t just do it for yourself. You need to get everyone in your household – family, roommates, lodgers, whatever – to also get treated. It’s no good just getting yourself treated – even if all of the other members of your household show no signs of head lice. They will when the eggs hatch.
Be Selfish By Being Unselfish
Another reason to immediately begin headlice treatments is that you don’t want the head lice to spread to others. Even if you go to the nearest pharmacy to purchase a nit comb and an over the counter head lice treatment like Nix, the adult louses will take every chance they can get to go from your head onto someone else’s.
You don’t want this coming back to you in any way. The more people with head lice walking around, the easier it will be for you to become re-infested. Although not the most painful parasites in the world, having to go through headlice home treatments every week is not a lot of fun.
Several Options
There are many options for you to make your own immediate headlice treatment from the things you may already have in the home. If you have a cheap-grade cheap olive oil, you can use a head lice olive oil treatment. Some people mix ten parts body lotion to one part essential oil of tea tree or lavender as their headlice home treatment.
But the easiest head lice home remedy is to use any bottle of hair conditioner you have – it does not matter what kind. Use shampoo if you are out of conditioner. Get in the tub or shower and thoroughly soak your hair. This will take a while. Try not to be freaked out by all of the drowned adult louses that drop off of you.
After the hair is dripping wet, take the conditioner and slather as much of it as you can on your head, as if icing a cake – instead, you are icing your hair. Each strand needs to be covered by conditioner. This usually suffocates all of the adults and newly hatched louses. Don’t rinse now.
Get a nit comb, flea comb or fine tooth comb and comb your hair. After every pass, wipe the comb on a paper towel. There will be dead and dying nits in the mess. Toss that in the trash or burn it. Then rinse your hair.
